Your photos and privacy

A skin score app asks for a close-up photo of your face, so it is fair to ask where that photo goes. This is the plain-language answer. The Privacy Policy is the full legal version, and it governs if the two ever differ.

Your selfie is uploaded over an encrypted connection, analysed on our servers with help from Anthropic and Google, and stored privately in your account. It is never sold or used for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models. You can erase it at any time.

What happens to a photo, step by step

  1. You approve one still image

The camera takes a short burst and keeps the sharpest frame. Nothing leaves your phone until you confirm that frame. Skyyn does not record video and does not use the microphone.

  2. It is uploaded and checked

The image goes to our servers over an encrypted connection. Google Cloud Vision confirms there is one face in it and screens it for unsafe content.

  3. It is scored

The image is sent to Anthropic's Claude model, which produces the observations and scores. If Claude is unavailable, Google's Gemini model is used for scoring. These providers receive the photo in order to return your result.

  4. It is stored in your account

The photo and its result are saved to private storage and a private database record. The security rules allow only the signed-in owner of the account to read them.

Product label photos are uploaded the same way and sent to Anthropic's Claude to be read. They are not sent to Google Cloud Vision or Gemini.

Who can see my photo?

You, when signed in to your account. Other users cannot. There is no feed, no profile page and no public gallery in Skyyn. Our AI providers process the image to produce your result. A small number of people on our team can access stored data when it is needed to fix a fault or answer a support request you have sent.

Before your first scan, label photo or Coach message, the app shows a screen titled "How Skyyn Uses AI". It names the providers, Anthropic and Google, and asks you to agree. If you choose Not Now, nothing is sent and those features stay off until you agree.

What does a shared score reveal?

Only numbers. A shared link opens a page with the Skyyn Score and the four sub-scores. The shared record is stored separately from your account and contains no photo, name, email address or observations. The score card image you post is whatever you choose to share.

What if I scan without creating an account?

Your first scan works before you sign in. It is stored against a random code kept in your phone's secure storage, not against an identity. When you sign in, it moves into your account. If you never sign in, the photo and its result are deleted automatically within about 8 days.

How do I delete my photos?

What Skyyn does not collect

What about analytics?

The app records which features are used and reports crashes, using Google's Firebase tools, so that we can see what is working and fix what is not. Photos are not part of analytics.

Questions or requests. Email support@skyyn.app from the address on your account to ask for a copy of your data or for help deleting it.
