What is in the app
Skyyn has five tabs: Home, Discover, Routine, Coach and Progress. Scanning opens from a button on Home. This page goes through what each part does and whether it is free or part of Skyyn Pro.
Progress and before and after
The Progress tab is where the score becomes a story. Pick any scan day from the strip at the top and the dial shows that day's Skyyn Score with its change against your recent scans. Below it are the trend chart with your best score marked, what has shifted since your first three scans (one item on free, all on Pro), and a timeline of the products you logged next to your scan dates.
Compare, a Pro feature, takes any two completed scans and lays the photos side by side with a slider you drag between them. It lists what moved, area by area, and shows the score breakdown for both. If the scans were measured on different scoring versions it shows the photos but not the score difference.
Score history, the trend chart and your personal best are free. Compare, notes on each scan, and the weekly and monthly recaps are part of Pro.
FaceMap
FaceMap draws zones over your own photo to show where the score came from. Tap a zone, such as the left cheek or the T-zone, and you get three things: what was observed there, what it means for your score, and one thing to try. Observations use plain words for what is visible, such as shine, dryness, roughness, redness or tone variation, with an intensity from very slight to strong. FaceMap is free. On free the suggestion is a general one; suggestions written for your scan are part of Pro.
Routine
The Routine tab has two sides.
- My Routine is yours to write. Add morning and evening steps, link a step to a product on your shelf, choose which days of the week it applies, and check steps off or skip them for the day. Free accounts get 3 steps in each of morning and evening; Pro raises that to 20.
- Skyyn Suggests (Pro) drafts a starter morning and evening routine from your latest scan, using product types such as a gentle cleanser or a daily SPF, never brand names. It updates as new scans come in. It is a suggestion to borrow from; you decide what goes on your face.
You can set reminders for your morning routine, your evening routine and your next scan, each at a time you choose. The app keeps a day streak, and days with nothing planned in your routine do not break it.
Shelf and label reports
My Shelf is a list of the products you actually own. You can add one by photographing its label, searching the catalogue by name, scanning its barcode or typing it in.
A label report reads the text on the product photo and gives you a plain summary: the role the product plays (cleanser, exfoliant, serum, moisturizer, SPF, mask, tool or makeup), the time of day it suits, how it fits your routine, ingredient highlights, things to watch for, and the ingredients it could read. The shelf also checks coverage of four core steps, cleanser, serum, moisturizer and SPF, and tells you when you have doubled up on a role.
| Free | Skyyn Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Active products on your shelf | 3 | 50 |
| Label reports | 1 in total | No fixed total (up to 20 an hour) |
| Compare two products side by side | Yes | Yes |
| Shelf overview: shared roles and repeated ingredients | No | Yes |
Skyyn does not rate products or call ingredients safe or unsafe. It only notes which sub-score a product's ingredients are commonly used for. Label reports are read from a photo and can be wrong, so check the product itself before relying on one.
Skyyn Coach
Skyyn Coach is a chat assistant that knows your account. It can look at your scan history, routine, shelf, recaps and notes, so you can ask things like "what changed since last month?" or "where does this serum fit in my evening routine?" and get an answer about you, not a generic one. Coach is part of Skyyn Pro.
For general skincare questions, Coach can search the web. It is limited to a short list of medical and public health sources, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the NHS, DermNet, Mayo Clinic and the US National Institutes of Health, and it shows the links it used under the answer.
Coach can explain ingredients, routines and what dermatologists generally look at. It will not put a medical name to what it sees on your skin, and it will not recommend or dose medication. If you describe something urgent, such as a spot that is bleeding or a mole that is changing quickly, it tells you to see a healthcare professional that day and stops there.
Share cards
Any scan can be turned into a score card image, sized for a story, and a link at skyyn.app/s/ that shows the score to whoever opens it. The shared page shows the Skyyn Score and the four sub-scores. It never includes your photo, your name or your observations. Sharing is free.
Discover
Discover is a browsable set of skincare products with links to Amazon, sorted into cleansers, moisturizers, SPF, serums, treatments and tools. After a scan it can show products whose ingredients match the sub-score with the most room. Skyyn has not tested or reviewed these products, and it earns a commission on qualifying purchases as an Amazon Associate. You can use every other part of the app without it.
Languages, appearance and your data
- The app is available in 11 languages: English (US and UK), French, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, Hindi and Vietnamese.
- It is light by default, with Dark and System options under Appearance.
- Start over erases your scans, photos, notes, routine, shelf, Coach conversations, recaps, share links and profile answers. It keeps your account, your sign-in and Skyyn Pro.
- Delete account erases your account and the content in it. It cannot be undone. What each option removes.
